Closing the Minnesota State Emergency Operations Center

July 12, 2021

Kody Olson working at the State Emergency Operations CenterAfter 475 days, the Minnesota State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) has closed. The Minnesota Council on Disability (MCD) would like to thank the staff of the Minnesota Department of Homeland Security and the Minnesota Department of Health for their ongoing partnership in promoting the health and safety of Minnesotans with disabilities everywhere.

Policy advisor Kody Olson redeployed to support the operations of the SEOC and serve as the voice of the disability community throughout the COVID-19 response. Issues worked on ranged from communication access to transportation barriers, PPE access, home healthcare shortages, COVID testing accessibility, and vaccine allocation equity. While the SEOC is not active, MCD continues to work regularly with the Minnesota Department of Health in the ongoing efforts to respond to the pandemic, ensuring that the disability community has equitable access to testing and vaccination efforts.

MCD urges all eligible Minnesotans who have not yet been vaccinated to get their shot. Find a convenient location.
