Join 2026 Disability Advocacy Day at the Capitol on April 29
MCD is joining the Minnesota Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities and other disability-led and allied organizations for 2026 Disability Advocacy Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. The event brings people with disabilities, allies, and supporters together to advocate for policy change and connect with others across the disability community. This year’s event returns to the Minnesota State Capitol with the theme “Disability Justice: Safety in Community.”
Call for Artists: Creating Poster Art for the Treat People Like People Campaign & Disability Forward Initiative
MCD is looking for Minnesota artists with disabilities to help shape two new poster projects. This is a chance to bring disability experience, perspective and creativity into public-facing artwork tied to Disability Forward and Treat People Like People. What We Heard About Disability Services, and How It’s Guiding MCD’s Policy Work
More than 700 Minnesotans joined MCD’s February 4, 2026 “Let’s Talk About Disability Services in Minnesota” event, making it the most attended in MCD’s history. Participants shared how service interruptions are affecting independence, daily life and trust in the system. They also made clear that any solution must include system stability, better communication and policy decisions shaped by lived experience. MCD is using what it heard to help shape its public policy work this session, including meetings with legislators, policy briefings and proposed bill amendments.

Neurodiversity Celebration Week, March 16-22, is a time to recognize different ways of thinking and challenge harmful stereotypes.
