Keep Sidewalks Clear of Snow and Ice

MCD reminds you to shovel your sidewalks and curb ramps. They are lifelines for many people with disabilities and for our senior community. When sidewalks and curb ramps are not cleared, they can become impassable and create a potentially life-threatening situation for people forced into the street alongside traffic. Please shovel your sidewalk and curb ramps as soon as possible. Don’t wait for the snow to melt!

MCD Celebrates 19th Anniversary of the Olmstead Decision

On June 22, 1999, US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg delivered what has become known as the “Olmstead Decision”. The Supreme Court held that people with disabilities have a qualified right to live in the community of their choosing and that states must eliminate the unnecessary segregation of persons with disabilities.
