About Margot Imdieke Cross
For 35 years, Margot Imdieke Cross served as the Access Specialist at MCD, shaping accessibility policy and practice across Minnesota. She attended the historic signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990 and played a key role in projects like the State Capitol restoration, the Help America Vote Act, and improvements to accessibility in state parks and several stadiums, including Target Field, U.S. Bank Stadium, CHS Field, and Allianz Field.
Margot worked alongside legislators, government officials at all levels, architects, building professionals, tradespeople, and—most importantly—people with disabilities.
She retired in 2020 and passed away in July 2024. Her vision lives on in this new space dedicated to inclusion.
“What Margot teaches us is that we should never doubt the importance of one person, one person’s vision, one person’s voice, one person sharing their experience and knowledge with others in partnership.” — Commissioner Sarah Strommen, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources
“I want to thank you for allowing me to participate in the adventure of a lifetime. The battles we fought, the laws we helped to pass, and the access changes we achieved were all part of a greater plan. Thank you for being part of that plan.” — Margot Imdieke Cross
