MCD offers training on a number of topics and our staff is willing to assist in customized training sessions as well. The following is a list of trainings that are currently available. This session focuses on Title I, the employment provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Issues regarding essential functions, interviewing do’s and don’ts, and work accommodations are addressed.

This session provides a brief and basic overview of the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act as well as a summary of numerous relevant revisions.
This session highlights technical code information regarding the Minnesota State Building Code Accessibility Chapter 1341. Specific information on building access including disability parking, entrance and restroom requirements is presented.
This session explores the language, attitudes and stereotypes that have an impact on people with disabilities. As employers, coworkers, and service providers, how we speak, think and feel about individuals with disabilities can affect our interactions and decisions.
This session provides a brief overview of several state and federal disability related laws that provide protections in a variety of areas for people with disabilities.
Emergency Preparedness for Consumers
This hour long session examines the issues that people with disabilities need to take into consideration when developing a personal emergency preparedness plan. This plan will include a go/evacuation component as well as a stay/shelter in place component. Consumer guides and some kit supplies are included with the training.

This session examines different components of a workplace emergency preparedness plan that includes considerations for employees and customers with disabilities. This plan will include a go/evacuation component as well as a stay/shelter in place component. An Employer Toolkit and some kit supplies are included with the training.
