Calhoun Harriet Master Plan and Improvements

October 8, 2015

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is working on a plan for Lake Calhoun and Lake Harriet that will guide investments in these parks over the next 25 years. They would like to hear from you!

How can the MPRB make these parks more welcoming and accessible? What activities do or would you enjoy doing around Calhoun and Harriet? What issues have you observed? What would like to see improved? Please send emails to dbartels@minneapolisparks.org or call the project manager, Deborah Bartels, at 612-230-6438.

A Community Advisory Committee (CAC), made up of appointments by elected officials and neighborhood organizations, has been meeting since July 21 to guide preparation of the master plan. Five meetings and two open houses have been held thus far. The CAC is currently reviewing three concepts for Calhoun and Harriet. These will be refined into a Preferred Concept presented on 10/27.

If you would like more in-depth information about the project, please visit the project webpage.

Open House #3 will be held Thursday 10/1/15 6:30-8:30 pm at the Bakken Museum, 3537 Zenith Avenue S

Meeting #3 of the Equity Subcommittee for the Calhoun-Harriet Master Plan and Improvements will be held Thursday October 8, from 10 am-noon. The subcommittee will be working on draft recommendations regarding equity. There are two long flights of steep stairs to the meeting room at Voices for Racial Justice. If an elevator is needed, please call VRJ when you arrive and they will call the elevator for you.
