MCD Remembers Disability Advocate Master Hinkle

February 28, 2024

Master Hinkle, a fierce advocate for acceptance and access, passed away from renal failure on Friday, February 15. He was 36. Master was known to his friends and family as “Superman.”

Master loved many things, but his family was first and foremost. We offer our condolences to his three children – Emilee, Tonio, and Malik – and to his wife, Anna. He also loved basketball, bacon, laughter, internet memes, and the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. “Roll Tide!”

Master was a loyal friend and quick with a hug of support and words of encouragement. He was upbeat, friendly, and funny – traits that made him a star when he and Anna joined us at the MCD State Fair booth. Children lined up to shake his large hand, admire his large arms, and experience his even larger heart.

Master gave to his community as an athlete, a coach, and an advocate. He coined the acronym R.A.G.E. – “Remember, Always Give Everything” – and he lived that motto every day. Master was a Keep Moving Forward participant, and his two segments show us something of that “Always Give Everything” spirit:

  • You Can Always Try (video)
  • Barrier to Friendship (video)

Rest easy, Master. Rest in power.
