How You Can Continue to Celebrate NDEAM

October 25, 2024

Four woman gathered around a table in a conference room, engaged in discussion. One woman stands and uses sign language, while others smile and laugh. Papers, drinks, and nameplates are visible on the table, including one that reads "MCD Access Consultant."National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean the advocacy and awareness have to end. The Minnesota Council on Disability (MCD) and the disability community fight for inclusive employment opportunities year-round.

Here are some ways people with disabilities can keep bringing attention to important employment issues.

NDEAM Interviews

Visit our website to explore stories from Minnesotans with disabilities about their employment journeys. Use these interviews to understand the real experiences and successes of people with disabilities and share them to raise awareness.

Artistic Expression

Celebrate through art! Create artwork that reflects your experiences, struggles, and victories related to disability and employment. Check out these posters by artists with disabilities for inspiration or share your own work to raise awareness.

Social Media

Share your story on social media! Use hashtags like #NDEAM, #NDEAMCelebrations, and #AccessToGoodJobForAll to spread your influence, experiences, and messages about the importance of disability inclusion in the workplace. Your perspective matters.

Advocacy

Get involved in advocacy campaigns! Help raise awareness of the challenges faced by people with disabilities in the job market and push for policies that support equitable employment opportunities.

Awareness and Educational Activities

Take opportunities to educate others. Conduct or join training sessions, webinars, and workshops to share knowledge about workplace accommodations, assistive technologies, disability etiquette, and the benefits of disability inclusion. Every conversation makes a difference.

Collaborative Activities

Participate in community forums, discussions, volunteer activities, and inclusive events. These activities provide spaces for people to come together, share experiences, and celebrate achievements.

More to Explore

There are countless ways to celebrate NDEAM. These ideas are just a few ways to provoke conversations, inspire change, and celebrate employees with disabilities every day of the year. Check out MCD Celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month 2024 for more information and resources.
