Stay Informed With MCD’s 2025 Legislative Bill Tracker

February 20, 2025

Minnesota State Capitol building with a bright blue sky in the background. At the Minnesota Council on Disability (MCD), we advocate for legislation that benefits Minnesotans with disabilities. Our Bill Tracker is designed to keep you informed about disability-related legislation as it moves through the legislative process.

What is the Bill Tracker?

During session, hundreds of bills are introduced every day. Our Bill Tracker focuses exclusively on legislation that impacts the disability community. It allows you to:

  • Track Legislative Priorities: Stay updated on bills that align with our legislative priorities.
  • Monitor Disability Legislation: Follow key bills from both the House and the Senate.
  • Stay Informed: Access current information on legislation that matters to you.

How Does It Work?

When a bill that could affect the disability community is introduced, our team reviews its language to determine its relevance. For each qualifying bill, the tracker displays:

  • Revisor Number: Identifies if the bill is a companion to one introduced in the opposite chamber.
  • Bill Link: Direct access to more information about the bill on the Revisor’s website.
  • Chief Author: The legislator who sponsors a bill and who is responsible for moving it through the legislative process.
  • Legislative Category:
    • Employment
    • Education (K-12)
    • Higher Education
    • Health
    • Human Services
    • Homecare and PCA
    • Housing and Independent Living
    • Mental Health
    • Human Rights
    • State and Local Government
    • Veterans with Disabilities
    • Transportation
    • Other Disability-Related Bills
  • Bill Description: A brief summary outlining the bill’s focus.
  • Bill Status: Updated stages include:
    • Introduced: The bill has been filed and awaits a committee hearing.
    • Active: The bill is scheduled for a hearing or has been heard in committee.
    • Held Over: The bill may be included in a larger omnibus bill.
    • Omnibus: The bill has been included in an omnibus bill, a large piece of legislation that includes many smaller bills.

Legislative Updates and Action Alerts

  • Important legislation heard in committee
  • Developments in the legislature that could affect our legislative priorities
  • Opportunities to testify in support of a bill or contact your state legislators
