Christine Morgan: I’m Christine Morgan. I’m the President of the Hearing Loss Association of America-Twin Cities chapter, and also a certified hearing loss support specialist.
You’re not as aware of your surroundings. With the dementia, what happens is, different parts of your brain that normally would hear, aren’t hearing, and you’re not getting the stimulus that you need.
If you suspect that you have hearing loss that you go see an audiologist. If it’s noise-induced hearing loss, it’s progressive.
If you’re dealing with someone with hearing loss, make sure you face them. Make sure you slow down. And make sure you pronounce all the syllables.
