Emergency Plan Checklists

A finger tracing an escape route map.

Most emergencies result in one of two plans of action:

  • GO – Evacuate, leave immediately, leave the building or the neighborhood. Disasters such as fires and floods are usually in this category.
  • STAY – Shelter-in-place, don’t go out. Disasters such as tornadoes and chemical spills are typically in this category.

Use the checklists below to develop your plans and kits for emergencies.

Thinking Through Your Emergency Preparations
This section provides several checklists that will assist you in completing your emergency preparedness plans.

Vehicle Emergency Bag Checklist
Keeping an emergency bag in your vehicle enables you to handle unexpected situations.

Service Animal and Pet Checklist
A service animal and pet emergency bag should include items to keep your animal safe and comfortable for up to 72 hours.
