Learn About the Civil Rights Investigation Into the Minneapolis Police Department

November 10, 2020

MN Department of Human Rights. Civil Rights Investigation into Minneapolis Police Department. On June 2, 2020, the Minnesota Department of Human Rights launched a civil rights investigation into the Minneapolis Police Department after filing a Commissioner’s charge related to the death of George Floyd.

This investigation into policies, procedures, and practices over the past ten years will determine if the police department engaged in systemic discriminatory practices towards people of color and ensure any such practices are stopped.

Two Community Presentations on Wednesday, November 18, 2020

On Wednesday, November 18, 2020, the Minnesota Council on Disability (MCD) will host the Minnesota Department of Human Rights for a community presentation on the civil rights investigation into the Minneapolis Police Department. Those who attend will learn why the Minnesota Department of Human Rights launched the investigation into the state’s largest police department.

The presentation will also explain how people with any experience – positive, negative, or neutral – about the Minneapolis Police Department from the past ten years can contact the Minnesota Department of Human Rights to speak with a neutral investigator.

CART and ASL Interpreters will be available for the presentation. For other reasonable accommodation requests, please contact Audel Shokohzadeh.

Folks can access the presentation at two different times on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 via Zoom.

Registration is not required.

The presentation will feature a PowerPoint presentation. MCD will post the PowerPoint presentation here before the listening session.
